What happens during a Newborn Photography Home Visit?
A home visit session is one of the most relaxed and personal ways to capture your newborn's earliest days — and it all begins long before I even knock on your door.
Once your booking is confirmed, you'll receive a full detailed information pack covering everything you need to know about preparing your baby ahead of the session. From feeding times to room temperature, it's all in there — so that by the time I arrive, you feel calm, prepared, and ready to just enjoy the experience.
I travel within 12 miles of CM9 8RJ and arrive with everything we need — bean bag, wraps, blankets, and all my equipment. I use a mixture of flash photography and natural light, all depending on your home set up. Sessions last around two hours, and from the moment I step through the door, everything moves at your baby's pace.
I usually begin with bean bag poses while your little one is at their most settled — gently swaddled in your choice of colour, or in natural poses if they're happy and content. With over 15 years of experience handling and posing newborns, I have a whole toolkit of soothing techniques for even the fussiest of babies. Warmth, movement, sound — I've seen it all, and I'll work quietly and patiently until we find what helps your baby feel secure and comfortable.
If your baby wants to be awake for all of it, that's completely fine too. Every session is entirely baby-led, because the most beautiful images come when your little one is truly at ease.
Once we have those early bean bag portraits, we'll move into something more natural and relaxed — photographs of your baby with you, your partner, and your family. On your bed, curled into the sofa, or bathed in soft light by a window. These are the images that feel like home — because they are.
Your home doesn't need to be a certain size or perfectly tidy. I work completely around your space and your family, and I bring everything with me.
Home visit spaces are VERY limited, so I always recommend securing your booking while you're pregnant — it's one less thing to think about once your baby is here.
