My newborn photography sessions are designed to capture the beauty of your baby’s first days in a safe, relaxed environment. Here are some of the most common questions parents ask before booking their newborn photoshoot
When is the best time to schedule a newborn photoshoot?
The best time for a newborn photography session is between 5–18 days after birth. During this period, babies are still very sleepy and flexible, which allows us to capture those sweet, curled-up poses safely and comfortably. However, I do offer newborn photos upto 4 weeks, but babies aged 3-4 weeks are a little more alert, and their photo session is a little different.
How do I book my newborn photography session?
You can book using my online booking system, and if you cant see a date suitable for you please WhatsApp 07947 102118 me as I usually can squeeze you in! I recommend booking while you’re still pregnant—ideally during your second trimester. I usually book a date around two weeks after your due date, and once your baby arrives, we’ll discuss weather we need to change your session date.
Where do newborn sessions take place?
My newborn sessions take place in my warm, cosy studio in between Maldon and Colchester — a calm, spa-like space designed for both you and your baby to relax. Soft music, gentle lighting, and comfortable seating create a soothing atmosphere while I capture those beautiful, timeless images of your little one.
How long does a newborn photo session last?
My Newborn photo sessions usually last around 1–2 hours. With over 15 years of experience photographing babies, I’ve learned every gentle technique to keep your little one calm and comfortable throughout the session — ensuring we capture beautiful images without any stress. Upon booking, you’ll receive an information pack with tips on how to prepare your baby for the session, helping everything run smoothly and relaxed on the day.
Is my baby safe during the photoshoot?
Absolutely. I’ve been photographing babies for over 15 years, and safety is always my number one priority. All of my posing is completely baby-led, meaning I follow your baby’s comfort and natural movements at every step. Your little one will be safely swaddled for most photos, helping them feel calm, secure, and content throughout the session. My goal is to create beautiful images while ensuring your baby is always safe, comfortable, and cared for.
What should my baby wear for the newborn session?
I provide a selection of wraps, blankets, and outfits in soft, neutral tones. If you have a special outfit or heirloom item, feel free to bring it along — I'll incorporate it into your session.
Can parents and siblings be included in the photos?
Yes! I encourage family and sibling portraits during newborn sessions. These images beautifully capture the bond and love within your growing family.
How should I prepare for my newborn session?
Before your session, I’ll send you a prep guide, what to bring, and how to keep your baby comfortable and sleepy. A full belly and warm room make all the difference!
When will I receive my photos?
You’ll receive a gallery of images to choose from within 24 hours of your photo session, and your full gallery of edited, high-resolution images is typically ready within 7-10 days of you selecting your images
Do you offer maternity or milestone sessions too?
Yes! I offer Maternity/Pregnancy Photo sessions, Family, and 1st Birthday Cake Smash photography packages so you can document every special stage of your baby’s first year.
